Like many artists drawn to nature, painting “en plein air” the French term for “in the open air” is a creative way to build in progression to your artistic journey. If you are inspired by the great outdoors this competition could be for you.
Our competition is for amateur artists and professional artists alike. We have been excited to set up this type of event for a while. Thanks to the EQCT (Exeter Quay and Canal Trust) and our sponsors (see below) we are looking forward to the 15th Sept ‘24 as our maiden event planned through Vandlys Galleri as event organisers. We hope this will be a new annual event for the Exeter Arts calendar.
The captivating surroundings of the Exeter Quayside is the inspiration for this event which includes the River, Canal and historic buildings and marine environment. Indeed, this is the location which has inspired many artists including Turner and a host of en plein air impressionists (meaning they paint on location outdoors).
